Education
Andrew & Tammy both teach photography at Rice University (you can take our classes via the School of Continuing Studies!) and are the founders of the Texas Institute of Photography.

If you've been wanting to learn more about photography, a class at the TIP or at Rice is an excellent way to get to know your photographers and more about photography. Click the links below for more information.

Outreach
At TCS, we think that giving back to the community is important. We volunteer our time, equipment, and skills to an organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. We take pictures of babies, without any charge, that are in distress or who were not born alive. It's not easy work, but, for the parents who want these pictures (often, not right away), what better reason for the camera to have been invented?

Andrew recently did a shoot for a woman who gave birth to a boy via C-section in rural Texas. The hospital knew something was wrong with the baby, so, before his Mom regained consciousness, they immediately airlifted him to Memorial Hermann Childrens' in the Texas Medical Center. There wasn't anything MHC could do; the baby died a few hours later; his Mom never got to hold him. Andrew's pictures, when the parents are ready for them, will be a lasting reminder to the couple that they had a son, even if he's now gone.

Requests for these portrait sessions often come at the most inconvenient possible time, but can you think of a more important way to use a camera?
